torneo del futuro 2008
It is our pleasure to announce to you the third edition of the international football tournament Torneo del Futuro! This U11 tournament (players born in 1997) will take place on 17 & 18 May of this year, and traditionally will be held on the grounds of sv RAP in Amsterdam.
Torneo del Futuro is football in the purest sense of the word: young talented players, who can mix professional play with the most important element of the game: FUN. Not to mention “Fair Play” as an important drive for all teams to accomplish this pure manner of playing football.
This year Torneo del Futuro will definitely be as big a success as the previous years, with the following teams competing for the title: Ajax, Sparta, sv RAP, FC Internazionale, Bayern München, Bayer 04 Leverkusen, Tottenham Hotspur, AS Monaco, Shaktar Donetsk, RSC Anderlecht, Villareal and Schalke 04.
Stars of the future:
Torneo del Futuro is an initiative by Fulco van Kooperen. Three years ago he came to the conclusion that there is no professionally organised international football tournament for young players. He decided to be the first to organise a tournament for these young stars of the future.
The philosophy behind the Torneo de Futuro is that the tournament will grow with the players. The first tournament started with players of 9 years old or younger. Now, the third competition is for boys of 11 years old or younger. This makes it possible to see how a club / team and the young players themselves have developed over the past year.
In May 2006 the idea was realised for the first time. Torneo del Futuro was a fact! Even though the tournament was not yet well known, the two day event was a great success. The applications from prominent football clubs to join Torneo del Futuro 2007 were received immediately. Thus, it was decided to make this tournament an annual event.
