AZ Alkmaar might be for outsiders the surprise of the season but the experts already expected that the club would do well this season.
The first team is well ahead of the competition and is playing great football and has many young talented players from Holland, Belgium, Brazil, Mexico and Argentina.
A great mix of talent, ambition and a healthy hunger to win. Put all this together and add one of the best coaches in the World, Louis van Gaal, and no wonder that this team does so well.
The fans in Holland all love the way they play and it’s just a matter of time for them to be able to celebrate the National Title. It would be a well-deserved title and the country would be proud to have such a team playing for the first time in the Champions League.
Not only the first team but also the youth department of AZ Alkmaar is very well organized and highly professional. They do not have the same history as Ajax but in just a few years AZ youth managed to play a very important role in Dutch Football.
The team participating at Torneo (D2) is the team with the youngest players AZ Alkmaar has on its academy and, though they have only been playing with each other for the past seven months, is doing extremely well in the league. The team exists out of great talented players. AZ Alkmaar’s youth department is supporting all its players to make their dreams come true and of course wishes that many players will end up in AZ’s first team in the future.
AZ D2 played this winter break in the south of Spain against some La Liga teams and made more than a good impression. AZ played very nice football and showed what it takes to become a professional player both on as off the pitch! AZ Alkmaar teaches its players the following: To be able to call yourself a good player, you need to play good football but also behave as a pleasant and nice person. This teaching seems to work as many AZ youth teams can be found in the top of their leagues.
AZ D2 is really looking forward to play at Torneo and will use this tournament to showcase their skills and to experience the matches and atmosphere playing versus international top teams as Chelsea, Ajax, Anderlecht, Inter, Kashima etc.
